Penn East FCU Rewards Checking

Penn East runs its Celebrate America promotion as two separate $125 bonuses: one for a new Rewards Checking account, one for a new Penn East credit card. Checking alone pays $125, and only opening both gets you to $250. Membership is limited to four counties in northeastern Pennsylvania.

How to get the Penn East FCU Rewards Checking bonus

1. Qualify for membership by living, working, worshipping, or attending school in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wayne, or Wyoming county, Pennsylvania.
2. Open a new Rewards Checking account and enroll in online banking and eStatements.
3. Set up a recurring direct deposit and receive qualifying direct deposits totaling $500 or more within 90 days of opening.
4. Use the new debit card at least 12 times per month in 3 of your first 4 months to earn the $125 checking bonus.
5. For the second $125, open a Penn East credit card, enroll in online banking, and spend $1,000 on purchases within your first four months.

The fine print that matters

• The advertised $250 is two separate $125 bonuses, so the checking account on its own pays $125.
• The credit card half requires a card application, which means a hard inquiry.
• Qualifying direct deposits include payroll, pension, Social Security, and government benefits.
• Person-to-person transfers and transfers between your own accounts do not count as qualifying direct deposits.
• Card spend excludes balance transfers, cash advances, fees, returned purchases, and gambling transactions.
