Kalshi runs a prediction market: you fund an account and trade contracts on the outcome of future events. That is a trading product rather than a deposit account, so money held there is not insured the way a bank or credit union balance is, and it can be lost on a losing position. Its sign-up promotion pays a range rather than a fixed amount, so the figure a given account receives may be the floor.
