Axos pays both sides of a referral. The amount depends on which account the friend opens, not on who is doing the referring, so you can work out what a referral is worth before you make it. Axos Checking pays $100 a side and Axos One or Summit Savings pays $50, and each account carries its own funding or direct deposit requirement.

Axos Bank publishes no cap for this program. That is not the same as there being none, so confirm on the terms page before you plan around it.

Tax treatment

Axos states the bonus may be taxable and reported on IRS Form 1099-MISC or 1099-INT. The tax falls on the person doing the referring, not the person referred. This is reference information, not tax advice.

When it pays

Deposited to both parties within 21 days after the friend meets the conditions.

The fine print that matters

  • The amount is set by the product the friend opens: $100 for Axos Checking, $50 for Axos One or Summit Savings.
  • Only referrals made through the advocate's unique link qualify.
  • The friend must be new to Axos and never have held an Axos deposit, loan, or invest account.
  • A friend may earn only one referral reward, and only one per product category.
  • The bonus pays into an open, eligible Axos liquid deposit account in good standing. If none exists at payout the bonus is forfeited, unless Axos closed the account.
  • Advocates cannot refer themselves and Axos employees cannot participate.
  • Axos Checking requires $1,500 in direct deposits within 90 days. Summit Savings requires a $5,000 deposit and a $5,000 average balance for a 30-day period within 3 months.
  • Minors and trusts cannot participate as advocate or friend.
  • Terms, amounts, and availability can change or end at any time without notice.
  • Axos says links are intended for personal sharing and prohibits paid advertising, automated tools, and bulk messaging. It stops short of banning public posting, and we report it as written rather than tightening it.
