Capital One publishes no referral figure anywhere. It confirms the reward depends on which product you hold and tells you to look in your own account, and it confirms that a yearly earnings limit exists without saying what it is. The number of referrals is uncapped; the value is not. Any specific dollar amount you see quoted for Capital One is not from Capital One.

What the person you refer gets
The referred person gets no separate bonus from this program. They must still apply through your link and be approved for you to be paid.
The cap, exactly
Capital One caps this at Capped per card, amount not published. The allowance attaches to the card rather than to you, so holding more than one eligible card gives you a separate allowance on each.
Tax treatment
We have not yet confirmed how Capital One treats this reward for tax. Check the program terms. The tax falls on the person doing the referring, not the person referred. This is reference information, not tax advice.

We have not yet read Capital One's referral terms closely enough to say whether public sharing is permitted. Until we have, treat it as restricted and check the terms yourself.

The fine print that matters
- Capital One states the referral bonus is based on which product you have and that amounts vary, directing you to your account for the figure.
- The count is uncapped but the value is not. Capital One says there is no limit to the number of referrals and that there are limits on how much you can earn within a calendar year, without publishing the limit.
- Only the primary cardholder can refer. Authorized users cannot, and the account must not be closed or in default.
- The person you refer must not already hold a Capital One consumer or small business card. An existing retail or partner card such as REI or Kohl's does not disqualify them.
- Capital One asks you to warrant that you have the rights, permissions, and consents from friends to send them the link. That is a condition on sending, not a rule about public posting.
- The authoritative Refer a Friend terms document did not render for us, so we make no claim about where the link may be shared.
