How to get the Charles Schwab Brokerage Account bonus

  1. Get a referral code or link from an existing Schwab client.
  2. Open a new eligible Schwab brokerage or IRA account using the referral code.
  3. Enroll in the referral offer during account opening.
  4. Make a qualifying net deposit of $500,000 or more within 45 days of enrollment.
  5. Maintain the deposit for at least one year in taxable accounts to avoid a chargeback.

The fine print that matters

  • Schwab Bank Investor Checking accounts do not qualify.
  • Excludes Schwab Global Account, ERISA-covered retirement plans, certain tax-qualified accounts, education savings accounts, corporate accounts, and independently advised accounts.
  • Only one account can be enrolled per client and the offer cannot be combined with other offers.
  • For taxable accounts you must keep the net deposit amount at Schwab for at least one year or the bonus may be charged back.
  • Bonus is paid about one to two weeks after the 45 day qualification period ends.
  • Taxable bonus is reported on Form 1099-INT.
  • Offer available to US residents only and excludes Schwab employees and affiliates.
