How to get the Betterment Cash Reserve / Investing bonus

  1. Get a personal referral link from an existing Betterment customer.
  2. Open a new Betterment account using the referral link.
  3. Fund the account with at least $100 for the investing bonus (or $10 for cash APY boost).
  4. Both referrer and new customer receive a $150 investing bonus and a 0.75% APY boost on Cash Reserve balances up to $1m for three months.

The fine print that matters

  • Cash Reserve is offered by Betterment LLC and requires a Betterment Securities brokerage account.
  • Betterment is not a bank; FDIC insurance is provided by program banks subject to certain conditions.
  • APY (variable) is 3.25% as of 12/12/25 plus a 0.75% boost on balances up to $1m with qualifying deposit.
  • $10 minimum deposit for base APY, $100 minimum deposit for individual investing bonus.
