How to get the Betterment Automated Investing bonus
- Sign up using the referral link or code from a friend.
- Open a new Betterment individual automated investing account.
- Deposit at least $100 into the new investing account within 30 days of signing up.
- Maintain a balance of at least $100 for about 30 days after the deposit.
- Receive the $150 bonus in the account roughly 30 days after the qualifying deposit.
The fine print that matters
- A non-taxable early removal fee applies if you reduce the account balance below $250 within 3 years of receiving the bonus.
- The early removal fee can be up to 80% of any single withdrawal and up to $150 total across the holding period.
- Offer not available to Betterment Advisor Solutions clients or Premium service clients.
- Deposits into self-directed investing, HSA, 401(k), joint/trust investing, cash reserve, or checking accounts do not qualify for this bonus.
- A separate 0.75% APY boost on Cash Reserve for 92 days is available with a $10 deposit into a new individual Cash Reserve account, but joint and trust accounts are ineligible.
